Endometrial Ablation is a simple effective treatment for heavy periods. Under a brief general anaesthetic (you are asleep) the lining of the womb, from where the periods arise, is cauterised with the aim of destroying the ‘roots’ of the lining to prevent it regrowing. The procedure is undertaken as a daycase and patient satisfaction is in excess of 90%. Details of the procedure and what to expect after can be found on the Novasure website and the Royal College of Obstetrics & Gynaecology website.
